Libby Trainor Parker receives grant to write new book: At a Loss

I am thrilled to be one of the recipients of an Arts and Cultural Grant from Create SA.

I will be using these funds to write my second book, which is on the topic of pregnancy loss and grief. The book will be published by Echo Publishing and I am so excited to be joining their incredible team.

This important subject has been an enormous part of my life's journey and, while it's hard to write, I know it will be a helpful resource for people living through loss.

Like my last book, Endo Days, this new project, 'At a Loss', is told through my usual style of helpful how-to advice, with a healthy dose of humour and hand-holding to guide people through a difficult time in their lives.

I send huge congratulations to all my creative colleagues who are sharing in these grants. I am looking forward to seeing everyone's projects come to fruition. You can see the full list of recipients here.

If you are also a person who has lived through pregnancy loss, grief and fertility challenges and you would like to contribute to this book, I am looking for voluntary participants to share their stories and suggestions with me. Your contribution, in the form of focus groups and surveys, will assist in creating a resource for people and their partners going through fertility struggles, pregnancy loss, infant loss, infertility, grief and loss of parenthood (ie wanting to be a parent but can't for any reason - including being without partner, financial barriers, age etc).

The information I collect will be published in print for the book, 'At a Loss' that aims to offer a how-to guide to surviving loss and grief in fertility, pregnancy loss and parenthood. Your information and contribution will be treated with respect, and your privacy and wellbeing is of the utmost importance. We will have qualified personnel at the group meetings to help us navigate the hard stuff we might bring up.

There will be 3 group meetings between May and July at a time that suits all or most. You also have the option just to contribute via short surveys.

The information I am looking for is what you need, what you want and how to help people living through loss and grief associated with pregnancy loss.

Please note: you don't have to have multiple losses or chronic infertility for this project. One pregnancy loss has a significant impact. Trying to conceive for less than a year can affect your life. I am looking for any and all situations and relationship status.

If you would like to be part of the process, please fill in the short survey here:

Thank you so much,

Libby
